As an online student, it can
be difficult to access academic reference works unless you happen to live close
to a local college, university or public library. To compound the problem,
virtually all libraries, place restrictions on checking out reference works, and Life
is no exception. Did you know that one of the ways Life Pacific Alumni Library
supports our distance students is by providing online reference works?
The LPC Library subscribes to
Credo Reference and Oxford Biblical Studies Online. Both of
these resources can be accessed through the libraries website at http://lifepacific.edu/academics/academic-resources/#library.
Credo Reference provides 642 reference works,
with over 3 million full-text entries by 70 publishers. There are images as
well as concept maps to help identify the web of interrelated fields of study to
a particular concept/subject. Another benefit is the aggregated search feature
which is connected to the database platforms the school subscribes to (ProQuest
& Ebsco). This means that when you search for a particular subject, Credo
will also link to the databases in those platforms.
Oxford Biblical StudiesOnline
provides 12 reference works along with numerous online resources, biblical
texts, interviews, images and maps, and so much more. There are 17,554 entries
arranged alphabetically. Users have the confidence that comes with the Oxford
University Press name.
The beauty of these online resources is their
ability to hyperlink to other articles and websites, as well as provide
suggestions for similar topics. The web of knowledge is amazing and we highly
encourage you to visit these sites and experiment with the many features. As
always, should you need assistance, please contact us at:
