LPC Alumni Fall 2016 Update and Reminders

Welcome to the DCP and MASL Blog, below you will find some useful information that will help you navigate through the LPC Library.

Tutorials

The Library has created some useful video tutorials that will help you navigate through logging into databases, navigating through Discovery, downloading eBooks and so much more. You can check out these videos for quick reference or quick help. They can all be found on our Video Tutorial LibGuide (click the Video Tutorial Libguide and it will send you to the page).

Borrowing Books

The LPC Alumni Library will send all DCP and MASL students who are not in the area book(s) from our collection.  We will only send items that are in general circulation. They all have a three week loan policy as well as a one time renewal policy (unless the item is on hold). Renewals can be made over the phone or through email (909-706-3009 or library@lifepacific.edu). In the package that you receive from the Library, there will be a shipping slip that will allow you to ship the book(s) back to the Library without having to pay for postage (we pay for postage).  Please note that you should ship the book(s) back a couple days before the due date to guarantee that the book(s) are received by its due date. If it is not received by its due date, there is a $0.25 charge per day on the item. Request Resources.
For DCP and MASL Students that live near by:
If our Library does not have the item and you live near by where you can go to the LPC Alumni Library and pick items up, you are able to request items through InterLibrary Loan. InterLibrary Loan is where we are able to get books and articles from other colleges or universities. The college or university will ship the item to our Library and you will be able to come and pick it up. Items must be return by their due date.

For DCP and MASL Student that do not live near by:
Unfortunately, if our library does not have the book we will not be able to do an InterLibrary Loan for those who do not live in the area, since loan policies are usually only three weeks and it takes too much time to ship it out to students, then have it shipped back to us, then ship it back to the lending college or university.
Although, DCP and MASL students are able to request articles, as they are emailed to students.

For MASL Students not in the area:
The LPC Alumni Library participates in ATLA Reciprocal Borrowing which means there are different theological colleges or universities around the country that will allow you to borrow from them. Below are the procedures you will need to follow:
  • Identify if there is an ATLA Reciprocal Borrowing School in your Area - See Map,
  • Contact that Library to make sure our Library does not have to contact them or fill something out,
  • Present your Life Pacific College ID to the lending library and inform them that Life Participates in the ATLA Reciprocal Borrowing Program,
  • Fulfill any requirements determined by lending library - This may mean the purchase of a library card or other lending requirements.
  • Be prepared to show proof of current enrollment at participating library (You must be an MASL student)
  • You are responsible to be a good standing patron at the participating library, be informed about and abide by the rules and policies of the library, return materials in a timely fashion according to the rules of the lending library, and assume responsibility for all materials borrowed.
